About the Race
Join Independence Charter School for the inaugural CORREMOS 5K at the Navy Yard! As Philadelphia’s only K–8 Spanish immersion school, we are proud to host this family-friendly event to support our students’ journey toward becoming true global citizens.
This 5K is a celebration of the school’s commitment to bilingual education, community health, and expanding the horizons of our students beyond the classroom.
The Mission: The Take Flight Program
Every dollar raised through CORREMOS directly benefits our signature Take Flight program.
At ICS, it is believed that language is a bridge to the world. Take Flight provides the seventh-grade bilingual students with the life-changing opportunity to travel to Latin American countries for firsthand cultural exchange. For many of the students, this is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to:
- Apply language skills in real-world settings.
- Engage in global citizenship through community service and cultural immersion.
- Build confidence and a broader perspective of the world around them.
