CRESCENT PARK

Crescent Park, a 2.5-acre park located just beyond The Navy Yard's front gates, was the first in a series of new parks completed at The Navy Yard. Facing new, glass-walled office buildings, it offers a quiet place for strolling or lunch, and a putting green for those looking to improve their handicap.

DRY dock park

At 500 feet long, 90 feet wide, and 25.5 feet deep, Dry Dock 1 at The Navy Yard was not large enough to accommodate modern naval vessels. Made of timber pilling, it became obsolete as a work space and was converted into Dry Dock Park, designed by D.I.R.T. Studio. Dry Dock Park sits at the heart of the Urban Outfitters, Inc.’s campus and is a great location for lunch and dog watching.

league island park

League Island Park is 2.5 acres and was designed by Wells Appel and KS Engineers.  League Island Park’s name comes from the history of The Navy Yard, where the original land was an island on the Delaware River. The water channel between South Philadelphia and League Island was filled in, creating today’s 1,200-acre Navy Yard. The park includes an innovative stormwater collection feature, through a partnership with the Philadelphia Water Department.

MARINE PARADE GROUNDS

The historic 8-acre Marine Parade Grounds along Broad Street was the site of where naval aviation was born. In 1911, Lt. Alfred Cunningham became the first marine to fly when he constructed a ramp at one end of the grounds, and drove a plane successfully up the ramp and into sustained flight. Today, the Marine Parade Grounds are host to weekend charity festivals and 5k races, weeknight recreational sports leagues, the weekly Lunch Truck Lineup food truck event, and much more!
