Local Philly radio station WMMR 93.3 hosts Preston & Steve are once again hosting their Camp Out For Hunger food drive to benefit Philabundance – and The Navy Yard is supporting this initiative to help fight hunger! During the week of December 1st to 5th, Preston & Steve will be broadcasting live and living out of an RV in the parking lot of XFINITY Live! (our neighbors to the north) at the Sports Complex in South Philly to raise awareness for Philabundance, the region’s largest hunger relief organization, helping the nearly million people in the region who face hunger every day.
Starting Monday, November 24th, through the week of the Camp Out, we encourage employees of The Navy Yard and our neighbors in South Philly to drop off desperately needed non-perishable foods at any of the convenient donation boxes placed around campus (locations listed below). On the morning of Thursday, December 4th, we will bring a trailer around The Navy Yard to collect all donations and drive them over to the Camp Out for Hunger to be weighed. Our goal is to not only bring in hundreds of thousands of pounds of food for Philabundance, but also to win the Camp Out Business Challenge! With The Navy Yard’s 11,000+ employees, we can make a difference and fight hunger!
“Many reasons led to our decision to support the Camp Out for Hunger,” said Will Agate, Senior Vice President, Navy Yard Management & Development for PIDC. “Sharing our good fortune to have jobs at The Navy Yard in combination with this event taking place with our neighbors in the Sports Complex District, we hope that to able to demonstrate the care and compassion of The Navy Yard community in giving back to those families less fortunate within the Greater Philadelphia region.”
If you have any questions, or would like a donation box to be placed in your office or lobby, please contact media@navyyard.org. We would be happy to drop off a box to you at no cost so together we can help fight hunger in the Greater Philadelphia region.
