The $13.4 million PENNDOT construction project to realign Langley Avenue is continuing as planned.
With the spring season in full swing, the realignment of Langley Avenue has entered into its final stages of reconstruction. The final phase will impact the City of Philadelphia-owned stretch of Broad Street just north of the Navy Yard gates.
Due to this construction, starting the week of March 26th, 2018, the two leftmost southbound lanes of Broad Street will be closed to traffic (red lanes). Between 9:15 AM – 3:00 PM each weekday, the center lane will be closed for construction (blue lanes). This lane will be open for morning rush hour traffic prior to 9:15 AM. The two rightmost southbound lanes of Broad Street will remain open for the duration of construction (green lines).
Until this phase of the project is complete in early May, access to the Navy Yard will be impacted and cause delays. Be on the lookout for extra staff with flags, and additional detour signage to expedite inbound and outbound traffic.
Once completed, this new intersection will have a signalized four-way intersection, an additional left turn lane coming into the Navy Yard, new pedestrian crossings, and added directional signage.
The Langley Avenue project is due for completion by end of 2018.
