Kick off the summer on May 23rd with a season of fresh, local produce and more, delivered right here to The Navy Yard, by becoming a member of Greensgrow Farms’ Summer CSA program. CSA, which traditionally stands for Community Supported Agriculture, has been rebranded by Greensgrow as City Supported Agriculture. The pickups will be conveniently located every Thursday on the Marine Parade Grounds (at Broad & Intrepid Avenue).
Greensgrow Farms’ Summer CSA is a six month, two-way commitment between the member and local farmers. In exchange for joining the CSA, each member receives their choice of a weekly or bi-weekly share of seasonal produce (5-8 vegetables, plus fruit) and a protein choice – eight times during the season, an artisanal cheese is added to the weekly bounty, and some weeks, a locally made prepared food is added! The Greensgrow CSA is unique in that it works with a network of local farmers to provide its weekly shares, rather than a traditional model in which the commitment is between the member and only one farm. This means more variety for the members!
Greensgrow’s is an urban farm and garden center/nursery with a community kitchen and farmstand located in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia. Since its founding in 1997, it has been working toward its mission of “revitalizing livable communities through the practice of sustainable entrepreneurial urban agriculture.”
Interested in joining this wonderful program? Sign up for the Summer CSA online or in person at The Navy Yard at an upcoming Lunch Truck Lineup.
