Savor the harvest season at the second annual PHeaSt on Friday, October 18 at The Navy Yard! Hosted by the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS), PHeaSt, which runs from 7 pm – 10 pm, will once again bring together the region’s most innovative chefs and urban growers for a truly memorable celebration to benefit the PHS City Harvest program. Last year’s event was a sold-out success, and this year promises to be even more mouth-watering.
Thirty chefs – including Aimee Olexy (Talula’s Garden), Daniel Stern (R2L), Al Paris (Heirloom), Mitch Prensky (Supper), Rafael Gonzalez (Fountain Restaurant at Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia), Jeffrey Power (Dettera Restaurant and Wine Bar), and culinary personality and author Hope Cohen – will collaborate with ten PHS City Harvest growers to create amazing dishes that are truly garden-to-table. New this year, PHS will elevate the guest experience by serving a selection of refreshing organic cocktails.
The popular People’s Choice Award will also return this year. Throughout the evening, each guest can vote for his or her favorite PHeaSt dish by casting a ballot at the People’s Choice voting station. At 9 pm, the three most popular dishes will be awarded “Best in PHeaSt.” The more you vote, the better your chance to win; three randomly selected guests will receive gift certificates to the winning restaurants.
All PHeaSt proceeds benefit a great cause, the PHS City Harvest program. Through the program and the PHS network of urban growers in the Philadelphia region, City Harvest feeds more than 1,200 families each week during the growing season. Limited tickets are available; please visit www.phsonline.org for more information.
