As Navy Yard tenants, you may have heard of the RideECO program, a transit benefit program administered by the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC) that allows employers and commuters to save money through putting pre-tax dollars toward fares on public transportation. Commuters can currently save over $500 per year, and employers can also save over $100 in reduced FICA taxes for each participating employee.

There are two flexible options:

  1. RideECO is perfect for smaller companies and organizations with employees who all work from one location. A bulk supply of vouchers is delivered to the office for distribution to participants.
  2. RideECO Select is the easiest way for employers to administer the RideECO program. Enrollment, ordering, and reporting can be done online, making it ideal for larger companies, or those with multiple locations. A wider variety of products are available – like the RideECO stored value card – and materials are mailed directly to employee homes.

RideECO is accepted by major transit agencies here, as well as Amtrak and most central Pennsylvania transit agencies. In addition, commuters may use RideECO for vanpool providers, like vRide. RideECO is the only locally-based and non-profit program in the region.

Employers can speak with a RideECO specialist by calling 215-592-1800 or emailing RideECO@dvrpc.org Information is also available at www.RideECO.org. Additionally, DVRPC offers other programs to benefit RideECO clients, like the Emergency Ride Home program and Share-A-Ride ridematching (find out more at www.pacarpool.com).
