The Navy Yard is scheduled to hold its first Night Festival Thursday, September 7, from 4 p.m.-8 p.m. The inaugural event will be held at Central Green, the family-friendly, open-to-the-public event will feature a diverse lineup of vendors, including food trucks, musicians, games, and crafters and makers of all sorts.
The Navy Yard Night Festival aims to bring attention and awareness to the Navy Yard and represents a key milestone in the 2022 Navy Yard Plan. The plan, released in 2022, outlines the next 20 years of equitable growth and aims to deliver an estimated 12,000 new jobs, 8.9 million square feet of new mixed-use development, and $6B of new investment into the region.
“As the Navy Yard continues to grow and thrive, it has become a destination for visitors who come to run, bike, walk, fish, and simply enjoy the scenery in our 20 acres of parks and a trail along the Delaware River,” said Kate McNamara, PIDC’s senior vice president at the Navy Yard. “Events like our inaugural Fall Night Festival are an important step in celebrating and expanding this community and providing fun and memorable experiences for Navy Yard employees, their families, and the greater Philadelphia community at the Navy Yard.”
Some of the best food trucks in the city are scheduled to attend the event, and live entertainment at the festival will be provided by The Cheddar Boys, a fun, jaunty, infectious local band.
Attendance is free for visitors and is pay-as-you-go for food and drinks. Pre-registration is encouraged to receive updates about the event and to be entered into a raffle to receive various prizes.
