Navy Yard Access & Traffic Impacts

Additional operational details have been provided regarding match day conditions and traffic management.

Match Day Operations

  1. City and FIFA event preparations will begin as early as 6:00 a.m. on match days. These activities will not require roadway closures into the Navy Yard at either S Broad Street or 26th Street. Please expect very minor delays during AM peak travel periods.
  2. The Stadium Complex parking lots will open approximately five (5) hours before kickoff.
  3. Philadelphia Stadium gates will open approximately three (3) hours before kickoff.
  4. The Navy Yard will begin limiting vehicle access approximately 3–5 hours prior to kickoff, depending on the match date.

Navy Yard Access Guidance

  • Navy Yard employees should be prepared to present either a company employee ID, Navy Yard-addressed business card, or Navy Yard-issued ID. To receive a Navy Yard-issued ID, please reach out to Navy Yard Security at Joe.Goldschmidt@cbre.com. Navy Yard-issued IDs are subject to review/approval.
  • Navy Yard visitors, patients, vendors, and delivery drivers should be prepared to provide the company name or address they are visiting.
  • Navy Yard residents should be prepared to confirm they reside within the Navy Yard.
  • Navy Yard security will restrict access for individuals attempting to use the campus for match/event parking.
  • The Navy Yard will be closed for match/event parking.

Roadway Conditions

PennDOT and the Philadelphia Streets Department have confirmed that S Broad Street, 26th Street, and the I-95 ramps will remain open throughout FIFA events. While the roadways will remain open, please anticipate:

  • Heavy traffic delays (especially within 3 hours of kickoff and 2 hours after final whistle)
  • Increased congestion around the Stadium Complex
  • Intermittent short-term roadway closures and detours associated with event operations and public safety activity

FIFA Fan Marches

FIFA fan marches may occur prior to each match and could involve large crowds. Participants of the fan marches will begin at one of two locations: FDR Park and Marconi Plaza.

The City of Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Police Department will manage all fan march operations. Final timing will vary based on kickoff times, but individuals should anticipate potential traffic disruptions approximately 90–120 minutes before matches begin.

Additional information:

  • Temporary rolling road closures will occur during the fan marches.
  • Roadways will reopen after Philadelphia Sanitation Department cleanup operations are completed.
  • Philadelphia Police will escort and manage all marches, minimizing delays and disruptions.

Parking Restrictions

Note: There is no FIFA event parking permitted at the Navy Yard.

Navy Yard Shuttle & Transit Service

PIDC will continue operating both Navy Yard shuttle services on FIFA match days.

NRG Loop

  • On the six FIFA match days only, the NRG shuttle stop will temporarily relocate to the southeast corner of Broad Street and Zinkoff Boulevard.
  • Temporary signage will be installed at NRG Station and along S Broad Street to assist riders.

Center City Loop

  • Minor delays are anticipated.
  • No significant route or stop changes are currently planned.

Please anticipate more crowded shuttles and transit delays, particularly within three (3) hours of kickoff. SEPTA riders are encouraged to review FIFA-related service updates through SEPTA’s website (below).

Recommended Planning for Navy Yard Businesses

To help employees and visitors navigate anticipated congestion and operational impacts:

  • Coordinate flexible work arrangements with your leadership teams, if available.
  • For employees who must be on-site, 26th Street is recommended as an alternate route to avoid anticipated congestion on S Broad Street.

The Navy Yard team will continue to share updates and operational information leading up to and throughout the FIFA tournament period.
