Philadelphia is home to some of the most iconic photoshoot spots, from historic walkways in Old City to Trader Joe’s rooftops just minutes from Center City. But just four miles south, you’ll find one of Philadelphia’s hidden gems for photoshoots.

Whether you’re looking for an artsy setting, social media content, waterfront views, or just a beautiful place to capture the perfect shot, the Navy Yard has something for every style of photoshoot. Here are some of our favorite spots to strike a pose!

Quay Wall

Being one of the Navy Yard’s most scenic waterfront views, the Quay Wall offers unobstructed views of the Navy Yard river basin, home to several historic naval ships. The ships have served as the backdrop for countless photos over the years, making this one of the campus’s most photographed locations.

Photo Tip: Try to grab a photo after 6 pm! The most beautiful sunsets grace the reflection of the water right before the sun goes down.

Gatehouse Beer Garden

Just steps from the entrance to the Navy Yard is the Gatehouse Beer Garden, which offers a relaxed and casual atmosphere for a couple of photos. Decorated with dazzling string lights, colorful seats, greenery, and being pet-friendly, this is the perfect spot to capture pictures with friends (or your furry ones!) during happy hour, before a Phillies game, or on a casual night out.

FS Container & Dazzle Wall

Looking for something unique and creative? The Navy Yard is home to several art installations as part of the Navy Yard’s Mural Arts partnership. The FS Container (201 Rouse Blvd.) and the Dazzle wall (Admiral Peary Way) offer bold patterns and vibrant colors. These installations create the perfect backdrop for creators looking to get fun, eye-catching photos!

URBN Park & Shop 543

The URBN campus at the Navy Yard is a one-stop shop for photos and a good meal or coffee after all the picture-taking. The beauty of the campus spans multiple buildings, but be sure to stop by Dry Dock Park for an outdoor picture with one of the newest additions to campus—the classic yellow URBN tugboat. Then head indoors to Shop 543 for pictures with natural lighting in front of the sparkle wall or from one of the many lounge areas throughout the café. Bonus points for grabbing a matcha or coffee to complete the shot!

Chapel Plaza

For a bit of historic charm and a relaxed atmosphere, Chapel Plaza has it all. From the timeless brick walls and stained glass windows of the Chapel to the greenery of Central Green across the street, the Plaza offers plenty of space to get creative. Whether you’re capturing professional portraits on a sunny day or family photos during Third Thursdays, it’s a versatile location for timeless shots.

No matter the photography style or experience level, the Navy Yard offers a variety of photoshoot locations, from historic landmarks to unique murals and waterfront views. Next time you’re planning a photoshoot, skip the crowds of Center City and head down to the Navy Yard to discover one of Philadelphia’s hidden gems.
