We’re proud to share that PIDC, the developer of the Navy Yard, has received a 2026 award from the Water Resources Association of the Delaware River Basin (WRA), a respected non-profit dedicated to advancing science-based water resource management across the region.
The Delaware River Basin is one of the most vital water systems in the country—supporting drinking water, ecosystems, industry, and communities across four states (New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware). WRA works to protect these shared resources through collaboration, science, and balanced policy.
At this year’s awards gala, WRA is recognizing leaders making a lasting impact on the health and resilience of the basin. We are proud to receive the Waterside Land Development, Conservation, and Preservation Award for our role as Master Developer of the Navy Yard.
“From restoring and reactivating the waterfront to creating a dynamic hub for business, innovation, and community, the Navy Yard has become a center of jobs and opportunity, powering Philadelphia’s future while delivering benefits across the city.”

This recognition highlights our work transforming the Navy Yard waterfront into a hub of innovation, environmental stewardship, and economic opportunity. Through climate-responsive design, long-term planning, and a strong commitment to environmental performance, we’ve helped position the Navy Yard as a model for responsible waterfront development.
Being recognized by an organization so deeply committed to sound water management is especially meaningful. It underscores the importance of integrating environmental responsibility into every stage of development—from planning and design to long-term operations.
“We are honored to receive the Waterside Land Development, Conservation, and Preservation Award. We are deeply grateful to WRA for this recognition, which reflects the vision, partnership, and persistence that have transformed the Navy Yard waterfront into a vibrant, resilient campus over the past 25+ years,” said Kate McNamara, Executive Vice President, PIDC at the Navy Yard.

This achievement reflects decades of collaboration and commitment, and while we’re grateful for this recognition, we see it as motivation to keep pushing forward. The challenges facing our water systems, from climate resilience to ecological restoration, require continued innovation and partnership.
We remain committed to advancing development practices that protect our waterways while creating vibrant places for people, businesses, and communities to thrive.
