BFW Group: A Small Business Powerhouse at the Navy Yard
From May 4-10, we’re celebrating Small Business Week at the Navy Yard! Did you know that 70% of the companies at the Navy Yard are small businesses? There’s room for all kinds of businesses at the Navy Yard; it’s been part of our redevelopment plans for the past 25 years. We’ll be highlighting one of the small businesses that call the Navy Yard home every day this week.
First up, we’re proud to spotlight BFW Group, a leading construction project management agency headquartered right here at the Navy Yard. As the largest Black-owned construction management firm in the tri-state area, BFW is redefining what it means to be a “small business” in a big industry.
Founded and led by Blane Stoddard, BFW offers a wide range of services including consultancy in construction management, land development, and affordable housing development, and project administration support such as staff augmentation and compliance monitoring.
With a growing team of 32 professionals, BFW has called the Navy Yard home for the past decade—and from here, they’re planning to expand their footprint to Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, New York, and Maryland.
