Black Girls with Green Thumbs is coming back to the Navy Yard this summer to teach our community about gardening through fun, hands-on Urban Homestead-ish Workshops.
Learn how to make your own hot sauce, tea, herb garden, and more with local, homegrown ingredients. Stock your pantry with items you’ve made yourself and learn the skills to keep creating them on your own.
These free workshops aim to inspire and empower the Navy Yard community through engagement with the natural world. With five public parks and 20 acres of green space, the Navy Yard is an ecological wonder that offers workers and visitors opportunities to interact with nature.
This year, the Navy Yard is celebrating 25 years of transformation from a former naval base into a dynamic hub for business, innovation, and community–which we’re cultivating through the enhancement and protection of our natural environment as part of the Navy Yard Plan and programming like Urban Homestead-ish Workshops.
Enjoy nature, meet new people, and be creative this summer with Black Girls with Green Thumbs.
