The event featured Québec and City of Philadelphia’s Advanced Green Technologies and Job-Creating Solutions
For the second year in a row the Québec government office in New York, the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA), and the City of Philadelphia, partnered on the second Smart and Sustainable Mobility Showcase on May 13. This year, the event was held at the Navy Yard.
The event was open to both the public and industry professionals, the event had a deep dive into cutting-edge innovations shaping the future of transportation, technology, and equipment.
“After the success of last year’s event, we are excited to once again partner with the City of Philadelphia and the Québec government office in New York to highlight innovations driving sustainability in the transportation industry,” said SEPTA General Manager and CEO Leslie S. Richards. “Cultivating these relationships locally aids in achieving the goals outlines in SEPTA Forward, while keeping the Authority at the forefront of innovation and technology in the transit industry.”
More than 20 cutting-edge companies from Québec, Canada, showcased the latest innovations in transportation, technology and equipment and for the first time, the City of Philadelphia displayed vehicles from their own fleet. Participants saw a variety of vehicles, equipment, innovative technologies and solutions, including battery electric transit buses, electric school buses and street sweepers, all designed to reduce emissions and support the Philadelphia region’s climate objectives.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with our esteemed partners in Philadelphia for this year’s Smart and Sustainable Mobility Showcase. Québec and Philadelphia share mutual ambitions in the fight against climate change. We are also proud to see Québec’s businesses showcase what they can offer as solutions and share best practices that contribute to our mutual goals in developing greener economies. This event is a fantastic example of what we can achieve together in building a more sustainable future,” said Martine Hébert, Québec Government’s Delegate General in New York.
Notably, the showcase featured technology companies specializing in AI, safety, data for transit authorities, and fleet managers.
The Smart and Sustainable Mobility Showcase aimed to build relationships that can spur investment and job creation in Philadelphia. Participants had the unique opportunity to connect and network with industry leaders, government officials, and other professionals in the field. The event also served as a platform for learning more about smart and sustainable solutions that can support the City of Philadelphia and SEPTA in their efforts to transition to a more digital and sustainable future.

The City of Philadelphia’s Department of Fleet Services shares the following mission: “The Department of Fleet Services (DFS) ensures that City vehicles and other automotive equipment are available, dependable, and safe to operate so that City departments and agencies can deliver services. From fire trucks to riding mowers, DFS makes sure that City employees have the vehicles they need to do their jobs and work towards a city that fulfills the mayor’s goal of a safer, cleaner, and greener Philadelphia.”
