SEATED LITTLE CLOUD (2024)
From September 5, 2024 through the end of the month, this playful artwork will grace Crescent Park, welcoming visitors with its cheerful presence. The inflatable sculpture towers 35 feet over Crescent Park, while spanning 26 feet wide and 21 feet deep. The installation, free and open to the public

Mural Arts Philadelphia and PIDC unveil their latest public art project at the Navy Yard: Spring into Dance by artist Loveis Wise. The project consists of six, 19-foot banners celebrating the human connection with nature. Each banner features an individual joyfully immersed in a different type of forested area. The banners are currently displayed at Building 101, a former marine barracks.

In partnership with Mural Arts, Miriam Singer, a Philadelphia-based artist, has designed a striking graphic expression for the wrapped shuttle buses that travel to and from the Navy Yard. Singer's design expresses the Navy Yard as a collage of noise, pattern, and density, and reflects the layered changes that the historic industrial port has seen over time.

The Navy Yard Cocoon was an interactive tape sculpture created by experimental European arts collective Numen/For Use. This temporary experience was located inside 1701 Langley Avenue (Building 694), latching onto the building’s existing structural beams using a staggering 21.5 miles of translucent tape.

In fall 2018, Group X and the Navy Yard revealed Sea Monsters HERE (#NavyYardSeaMonster), the largest inflatable tentacle sculpture ever created from world-renowned artists Filthy Luker and Pedro Estrellas. The temporary installation employed 20 inflated tentacles ranging from 32 to 40 feet to form what can appear to be one or many colorful sea creatures attempting to escape from Building 611.

Through a collaboration with Mural Arts, Nate Harris, a Philadelphia-based artist, has returned for his fifth project at the Navy Yard. Harris’ newest installation covers the fence in front of the peaking plant and continues to evoke the spirit of the Navy Yard with abstract representations of its buildings and ships, bringing vibrant color to the site.
